"When I'm traveling, when I'm looking out my window, when I'm flying there is always a landscape that I might want to paint then or later, on the spot or from my memory and my imagination.   Sometimes I have the prompt of a photo, but the challange, then, is not to do what a photograph does better than I could.  My intent is to 'own' that landscape, make it definitively 'mine' so that I won't forget it."
