"The figure as a subject has absorbed me for years.  Painting from the live model is a collaborative process.  A good model doesn't just take a pose. There is an energy, a silent communication with the artist that helps make that painting happen.  That energy often inspires a background, a stage setting for the scene that is emerging.  There is an excitement in the process that is addictive.  That's probably why I continually return to that subject matter."
